Did you catch the American Idol finals in 2015 between Taylor Hicks and Catherine What’s Her Name? Who won? The one with the best voice? Or the one with the most character?
So many business owners waste their time and cash bragging about being the finest. “We offer the best doohickeys …” “We provide the best customer service …” ‘
It’s dopey to extol being the best! Why? ‘Cause
1. Everyone says it.
2. It’s most likely not real.
3. We don’t believe you anyway
But don’t stress over it, ’cause
4. We’re not constantly looking for the best.
Look at singers. The most popular. The most liked. Are they the best? Rod Stewart’s what, 92? And still producing struck albums! “Do You Think I’m Sexy?” No Rod. I do not. x비디오 Not 30 years back when the tune came out and definitely not now. But somehow a geriatric Rod got to wiggle his assets on American Idol together with Taylor Hicks! Meanwhile bad Catherine is doing a lame cameos on Ugly Betty.
The “It” Factor
In showbiz, there’s an expression “You’ve got ‘it’.” What’s “it”?
The factor they call it “it” is due to the fact that it’s hard to put it into words. It’s got something to do with charisma, magnetism, the power to hold an audience and bring in. Honestly, Rod Stewart never did it for me, but Elvis absolutely had “it”.
Access Your Inner Elvis
I just saw a film about Elvis’ life. Why are people so captivated by Elvis? Why are they still informing me “Tsufit, I just saw Elvis at a corner store!” when he died prior to Britney Spears was born? Why? Due to the fact that a character that huge never dies.
Why was the guy such a star? Was it his appearance, his character, his voice, his music? It’s most likely all of those things– together with this wonderful thing called “it”, however even with Elvis, it took him a while to find his inner “it”.
In the movie, a docu-drama (or shlock-u-drama), Elvis walks into Sun Records, a small Memphis recording studio, to sing for Sam Phillips. Elvis sings like Bill Monroe; he sings like Bing Crosby; he sings like yesterday’s news.
It wasn’t a quickie, even for Elvis, to discover his original voice. He kept at it and Phillips kept pressing him. Ultimately he did find it. And the rest is history!
What’s this got to make with entrepreneurs? Everything!
You got ta find your original voice. You got ta access your Inner Elvis!
Do that and enjoy your star shine.
